This week, Walker County is abuzz with summer activities for all ages! Shop locally, enjoy live music, play pickleball or cornhole, attend an art class, or learn more about preparing your dog for obedience training.

Wednesday, July 10

  • RUFF Bingo Night

When: 7 PM
Where: The Pie Factory of Jasper | 1807 6th Avenue South, Jasper, AL 35501

Support RUFF (Rescuers United for Furbabies), play bingo, and enjoy raffle items and t-shirts for sale!

Friday, July 12

  • Obedience Training Introductory

When: 5 – 7 PM

Where: Gamble Park

S & S Kennel is hosting this free dog training seminar featuring special guest Dr. Dale Hubbard. Bring your pups and have the chance to talk to professional dog trainers. Also, enter to win a free two-week obedience training session.

  • Movie Night with Horses

When: 6 – 8 PM
Where: Elevated Riding Academy | 59 Huckleberry Lane, Jasper, AL 35504

In celebration of Inside Out 2, Elevated Riding Academy is hosting another movie night with horses! Wear your pajamas, have a meet and greet with horses, and enjoy Kool-Aid and popcorn while you watch the movie. Parents are welcome to stay or drop off/pick up. Pick-up will begin at 7:45. The cost is $15 per child; to register, call (205) 435-4254.

Saturday, July 13

  • Indoor Pickleball Tournament

When: 9 AM
Where: Sumiton Christian High School Gym | 155 Hosanna Drive, Sumiton, AL 35148

This pickleball tournament benefits the Sumiton Christian football program and features men’s, women’s, and mixed brackets. Entry is $50 per team, or $80 for double entry, and includes a four-game guarantee. To register, contact Danny Gosa or Jarius Williams on Facebook.

  • Open Air Market

When: 9 AM – Noon
Where: Front Street, Carbon Hill

Presented by the Carbon Hill Women’s Club, this open-air market is an event you don’t want to miss! Enjoy homemade goods such as bread, relish, pickles, jellies, soaps, lip balms, pens, keychains, woodwork, jewelry, and pottery. Shop for fresh veggies, eggs, honey, and flowers, and enjoy games of bingo, checkers, and dominos!

  • Start the Party VBS

When: 10 AM – 5 PM

Where: Crossway Baptist Church of Aldridge | 1160 Aldridge Road, Parrish, AL 35580

This one-day VBS is all about celebrating God’s love for us! Children ages 3 to 6th grade are welcome to attend!

  • Cornhole Tournament

When: Sign-in @ 10 AM | Bags Fly @ 11:30 AM
Where: Don Lowery Fields | 100 Don Lowery Road, Jasper, AL 35503

This cornhole tournament features fun for the whole family! Enjoy food vendors like the Poe Family Food Truck, Twisted Sugar, and Mi Michoacana. Activities for the whole family include water slide races, water balloons, face painting, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and more! Divisions include $40 competitive teams, $20 social teams, and a $10 blind draw, all going by single elimination.

  • Kids Collage Craft Workshop

When: 5 – 7 PM
Where: Memorial Park Natatorium | 610 10th Avenue, Jasper, Al 35501

Ages 6 – 12 years old are invited to join in the fun! Kids will be provided with a variety of mediums to create a collage that is unique to them. Visit this link to register!

  • Metal Night

Where: Tallulah Brewing Company | 1804 4th Avenue South, Jasper, AL 35501

It’s Metal Night! Enjoy your favorite Tallulah food and drinks and rock out to Evil Eye, Witch Hunter, Vector Xero, and Dog City!

Multiple Dates

  • Lil’ Dreamers Art Camp

When: July 11, 16, & 18 | 10 AM – Noon
Where: Daydream Design Co. | 910 Airport Road, Jasper, AL 35501

Ages 6-10 are welcome to learn about famous artists, history, and art mediums through hands-on projects. Children will learn about artists such as Henri Matisse, Edvard Munch, Andy Warhol, Claude Monet, and Frida Kahlo while implementing mediums such as pencils, watercolors, finger painting, and acrylic paint to create collages, self-portraits, and more!
