Macy Cain became a travel agent almost immediately after graduating college. Although this type of work had always piqued her interest, she never considered it until an unsatisfying job pushed her to dream bigger.
“I was working at a radio station in Birmingham doing advertising, and I completely hated that job. I realized it was not for me. So, I discussed my general satisfaction with the job with my mom. And she was like, “You’re right out of college. Why don’t you go ahead and focus on your dream career?” And I knew I wanted to be a travel agent,” Macy recalls.
Macy put her organizational skills and strong attention to detail to work. With newfound enthusiasm, she trained at a travel agency in Birmingham and worked there for several years, gaining valuable experience before starting her own agency, Macy’s Travel, LLC.
For 14 years, Macy has poured herself into the industry. Her passion for traveling and providing others with fantastic travel experiences has allowed her to offer professional yet personable service to her clients.
Macy’s Travel, LLC specializes in booking trips to Mexico, the Caribbean, and all Disney destinations. Though her busiest booking time is January through March, Macy is constantly on-call throughout the year to answer questions, coordinate last-minute details, and build relationships with her clients.
Macy works with many busy moms who are planning family-friendly vacations. Thus, Macy travels frequently, taking her children to experience these destinations, and allowing herself to become familiar with the destinations they specialize in booking.
Macy’s Travel, LLC has grown over the years, now boasting six additional agents working to provide clients with a personalized travel experience. Working out of her office in Corner, Alabama, Macy hopes to continue growing her agency and expanding her clientele.
“I feel like a lot of people assume that working with a travel agent is purely transactional. But a lot of people don’t realize the true value of a travel agent. In addition to booking your trip, we bring so much more to the table in terms of expertise, helping you narrow down the entire world to the destination that will fit your needs and what you envision for your vacation,” she says.
“I love being able to take something that can be overwhelming for some people and map out their vacation from A to Z, and then be there with them to walk them through every single step of the process until they get back home. That’s what I find most exciting in my career.” WL
