Local consignment pop-up Henrietta’s Closet is gearing up for its biannual return to Jasper!

The ten-day sale is scheduled for March 6-16 at the location formerly occupied by Discount Home Center, 2105 Highway 78 East, Jasper, AL 35501. The pop-up extravaganza will showcase up to 350 vendors offering unbeatable deals on clothing for preemies to juniors, toys, baby furniture/bedding, car seats, houseware, furniture, home décor, and more.

The concept of Henrietta’s Closet was born over 24 years ago by Amy Grice and Audrey Graham, both of whom began their consignment journeys in their respective hometowns of Florence, Ala., and Birmingham, Ala. Their shared vision was to introduce the consignment culture to Jasper, aiming to ‘sell clothing from the closets of the best-dressed kids in Jasper.’ Combining this idea with a whimsical, storybook-inspired name, Grice and Graham introduced their brainchild, Henrietta’s Closet.

Since its inception 24 years ago, the pop-up has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding from 49 vendors to an impressive roster of over 350. Reflecting on its evolution, Amy Grice emphasizes its impact on the next generation of young mothers. “It’s gratifying to see some of the young moms who once shopped with their mothers at Henrietta’s Closet now consigning with us. We’re onto the second generation of consigners, which is truly special,” says Amy.

Following the conclusion of the ten-day sale, Henrietta’s Closet donates unsold items to foster families and schools in Walker County. Amy underscores the role of technology in amplifying the closet’s reach over the years. Thanks to social media and online advertising, more individuals are embracing purchasing quality used items for everyday use.

“It’s a sustainable practice that reduces our ecological footprint. When you consider the staggering amount of clothing that ends up in landfills, you realize the importance of our mission,” she adds. “We’re not only offering bargains but also contributing to a greener planet and helping families make extra income through sales.” WL
