Jasper Falls to Cullman, Faces Tough Test Against Ramsay

The Jasper Vikings dropped their season opener against rival Cullman on Friday night, 15-13, at Ki-Ro Gambrell Field in Jasper.

The Jasper Vikings dropped their season opener against rival Cullman on Friday night, 15-13, at Ki-Ro Gambrell Field in Jasper. Micah Pledger rushed for 70 yards on 17 carries, and Tanner Morrow threw for 99 yards as the Vikings fell to 0-1 under new head coach David Reeves.

Titus Waldrop had a touchdown grab from Morrow, who was 14-for-23 passing on the evening and also scored a rushing touchdown for the Vikings (0-1).

Defensively, Luke Horsley and Connor Elmore led the Vikings with ten tackles each, while Eli Kimbrell collected eight tackles and had a fumble recovery. Cortez Samuels had eight tackles, and Roman White had six. Defensive end JoJo Odom disrupted the Cullman offensive attack and had an interception with a three-yard return.

The Vikings host Ramsay (1-1) on Friday in a class 5A regional matchup. The Rams lost 20-17 to Parker in the season opener this past Friday and defeated Hueytown 28-14 on August 25. WL
