This Monday, the Jasper Kiwanis Club welcomed as guest speaker Robert Aderholt, who has served as United States Congressman for 4th District since 1997.
Aderholt’s message went into detail on the 118th U.S. Congress, including remarks on the selection of the Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, as well as the raising of the federal debt limit, which has exceeded $30 trillion. During his address, Aderholt underscored the need for accountability and wisdom when spending taxpayer dollars.
Aderholt also discussed the recent Congressional redistricting process in the Alabama State Legislature and said that changes made to the 4th Congressional District include the loss of Gadsden (Etowah County) and the addition of Blount County and parts of Tuscaloosa and Lauderdale Counties.
Lastly, Aderholt added that one of the things he’s most proud of in representing this area is seeing I-22 thriving and doing well.
“It’s an honor for me to represent Walker County and Jasper,” Aderholt stated. “Thank you for allowing me to represent our district, county, and city.”
Originally from Haleyville, Alabama, Aderholt serves on the House Committee on Appropriations and as the Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health & Human Services, and Education. He was preceded in Congress by Congressman Tom Bevill. WL
