When illness strikes, finding proper care in a timely manner becomes paramount. That’s where the After Hours Clinic steps in, ready to assist the local community in feeling better as quickly as possible. The roots of the After Hours Clinic can be traced back to 1983 when Dr. Gene Birdsong established the clinic in its current location on Birmingham Avenue in Jasper. Recognizing the growing need for accessible after-hours medical care, a second location was added in Sumiton in 2007.
Under the ownership of the Bellestris, the After Hours Clinics have undergone various improvements since 2014. These enhancements primarily focused on enhancing the appearance and functionality of both existing locations. However, their latest endeavor represents a significant milestone in their commitment to providing top-notch healthcare services.
“After Hours is opening a new facility in Sumiton. This expansion aims to provide improved medical care, enhanced facilities, and greater convenience for patients in need,” Caron Bellestri says.

The new After Hours Clinic in Sumiton will be housed in a standalone building owned by the clinic. Unlike the current rented space, the new facility has been specifically designed to cater to the community’s healthcare needs. It will feature brand-new, state-of-the-art equipment and furnishings, ensuring patients receive the highest quality of care.
The facility will house advanced diagnostic capabilities, including an X-ray facility and a full lab, allowing for rapid and accurate diagnoses. A dedicated procedure room will also enable the clinic to offer minor procedures and treatments conveniently on-site.
Understanding the importance of patient comfort, the new clinic in Sumiton will incorporate several amenities to enhance the overall experience. Notably, a playroom in the waiting area has been included to provide a child-friendly environment, ensuring that young patients feel at ease during their visit. Furthermore, the new location boasts a larger and more accessible parking lot.

“This new space will allow us to better serve Sumiton and its surrounding communities. The community has been very receptive and supportive of After Hours being in Sumiton over the years. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue providing them with quality medical care, now in a place that is more fit for that,” says Caron.
The new clinic is set to open to the public on July 30, 2023. WL
After Hours Clinic’s new location will between the entrance to Sumiton Christian School and the Sumiton Fire Department at 292 Bryan Road, Sumiton, Alabama 35148.
