We sat down with Water Oak Villa’s owner and founder, Leigh Watts, to learn more about how the facility is improving the quality of life for individuals with memory impairments. Here’s what she had to say!
WL: What specific amenities, programs, and services does Water Oak Villa offer to ensure a comfortable and supportive environment for residents with memory care needs?
LW: Water Oak Villa offers a loving, enriching, and calming environment where residents can thrive. Some specific amenities and services we offer include a 24-hour care staff, on-site RN, assistance with Adult Daily Living Activities (ADLs), structured activities, wellness programs, medication management, daily housekeeping and laundry Services, home-cooked meals and snacks, and on-site barber/beautician services.
WL: Maintaining a sense of familiarity and comfort is crucial for residents with memory care needs. How does Water Oak Villa create a homelike environment to promote a sense of security and well-being?
LW: At Water Oak Villa, we have created a home like no other. Beautifully designed and specifically created for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. We take a unique approach to memory care, focusing on what remains in our residents, not what they have lost. By focusing on who our residents truly are, we can foster an environment of endless learning, compassion, and empowerment.
WL: How does Water Oak Villa prioritize personalized care plans for each resident, considering their unique needs and preferences?
LW: Each resident will have their own personalized care plan created by their primary care doctor and our RN Unit Care Coordinator. Our residents are the most important aspect of our care process and, therefore, should have a partnership with the staff members who will be assisting them with their daily needs. In creating a partnership between our staff and residents, we can ensure an environment of trust, empathy, empowerment, and optimal care.
WL: In what ways does Water Oak Villa encourage family involvement and support in the care of their loved ones residing at the facility?
LW: Families and friends are always welcome and encouraged to visit with our residents anytime. We also love seeing them at our holiday parties and family gatherings. Family involvement plays an essential and critical role in helping enrich the lives of our residents.
WL: As memory care needs may evolve over time, how does Water Oak Villa adapt and adjust the care plans and services to accommodate changing conditions and ensure residents’ best quality of life?
LW: At Water Oak Villa, we focus on creating a home and community for those in need. With an expert care staff and various health services, activities, and wellness programs, our goal is to enrich the lives of our residents. Our RN Care Coordinator closely monitors Each individualized care plan and adjusts as needed to meet each resident’s needs. We aim to continue giving them and ensuring they live their best quality of life.
