Get ready for an exciting summer filled with books, adventure, and learning at the Jasper Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. With the theme “All Together Now,” this program offers a range of activities and events for children, tweens, and adults alike. Mark your calendars from June 16 to July 21, and be a part of this educational and entertaining experience.

“This is a yearly program that encourages young people to continue their momentum with reading and learning during the summer months while they’re out of school,” said Sandra Underwood, Director of the Carl Elliott Regional Library System. “We’re looking forward to another great program!”

The Summer Reading Program kicks off with a “Touch-A-Truck” event on June 16 at the Jasper Civic Center. Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to explore various vehicles, including fire trucks, police cars, and construction equipment. This interactive event is sure to capture the imagination of children and ignite their curiosity about the world around them.

For children aged 5 to 12, the fun continues every Friday at 10 a.m. at the Jasper Public Library downtown. Each week, they will enjoy engaging activities and exciting events that foster a love for reading and learning. Special guest speakers such as Heather L. Montgomery, Tommy Johns, Peter Bradberry, James Spann, and Larry Darnell will inspire young minds with their stories and experiences.

Tweens, aged 12 to 15, are in for an action-packed summer as well. Every Friday at 2 p.m., they can head to the Jasper Public Library downtown to participate in a range of activities designed specifically for their age group. From building robots to experimenting with glow-in-the-dark circuits, tie-dye creations, and balloon-powered cars, tweens will have a blast while developing their problem-solving skills and unleashing their creativity.

While the focus of the program is on children and tweens, adults are not left out. The Adult Summer Reading Program encourages those aged 16 and up to indulge in their love for reading. Although there are no specialized events for adults, they can participate in the program and have a chance to win gift cards from local businesses.

To be a part of this exciting program, registration is required for all age categories. Participants must have a library card affiliated with Jasper Public Library. Registration closes on June 16. For more information, contact the library at 205-221-8512. WL

Note: The tween program is at capacity, however at the time of this publication, there are 15 spots remaining in the children’s program. The adult program does not have a limit for the number of individuals enrolled, however, registration will cease on June 16.
