Jim Borden, who serves as Walker County Commissioner for District 3, an area that includes portions of Cordova, Parrish, Oakman, and the surrounding areas in south Walker County, recently provided an update on road work.
According to Borden, recently completed projects include paving on Main Street in Parrish, paving on Gardener’s Gin Road, and paving on McCollum Road.
The repair project to Brown’s Bridge is in progress and upcoming projects include asphalting of Bruner Hill, The Narrows, and Day Hill Road.
Borden also provided an update on equipment purchased by District 3, including 2 John Deere Tractors with bush hogs and a new skid steer that is currently on back order.
“Road work requires both funding and working equipment,” said Borden. “My goal as commissioner has been to improve our roads and increase the quality of our district equipment. We have put the DuraPatcher we purchased a while back to good use, and now we are going to have 2 quality John Deere tractors and a skid steer. I hope this helps our district tremendously.”
Borden says he looks forward to the completion of Brown’s Bridge in the next several weeks and is planning a grand opening once the project gets completed.
“I hope the road work and bridge repair will make travel easier and more convenient for citizens of our district,” said Borden. WL
