As the spring season arrives, so does prom season.

Almost every weekend in March and April you can find high schoolers dressed in their beautiful dresses and handsome tuxedoes. As a high schooler, getting ready for prom can be stressful; having to find somewhere to take pictures and eat for a large group is not an easy task. However, Walker County provides great venues for all your prom needs.

Golf courses always create a gorgeous backdrop for pictures. Horse Creek Golf Course, located in Dora, has a deck to overlook the vibrant greens. If you walk the course, you will find calming waters that give a perfect pop of color. Back in Jasper, Musgrove Country Club’s log clubhouse offers a rustic-chic feel. And if you simply walk down the stairs, you will find the hidden gem of Musgrove: the club’s famous swinging bridge.

Closer to downtown is a Jasper classic: the Bankhead Heritage House. The Colonial style exterior is both classy and charming. The back of the house boasts iron gates and a pretty porch, just inviting you for a picture. If the weather is not cooperative, head inside the house. Within the doors a grand staircase meets you and invites you to ascend her steps. A stunning mantle fills the back wall, creating another picturesque background.

Further out of town you will find Windgate Farms. This venue gives off all the upscale country vibes. You can even stop at the entrance and take pictures along the white fence leading to the gorgeous farmhouse at the end of the driveway.

If you want a wide variety of options for dinner, head to downtown Jasper and visit Warehouse 319. They have anything from pasta to chicken and waffles. Everyone in your group will find something to enjoy.

In Oakman, you can find Bull Pen Steakhouse, a local favorite. You can find every type of steak for dinner and even add shrimp or lobster to your plate. Don’t worry, they also have chicken fingers for those picky eaters in your group.

For a classic Italian dinner try Roma Italian Restaurant. Roma serves everyone’s favorites such as spaghetti with meatballs and chicken alfredo. For the adventurers, try the seafood and Cajun pasta. Don’t forget about dessert! Roma also has you covered with several cakes and tiramisu.

Though many groups travel for their prom, Walker County has an assortment of restaurants and scenes to create the perfect night. WL
